This is a Beta I version of the Halifax Convoy scenario in the January 1991
issue of SITREP.

I have tried to use ships as close as possible to the originals but there
are some minor differences.

For those of you who do not subscribe to SITREP the scenario is as follows:

Several of the Baltic States have decided to break away from the Soviet
Union and form a confederation called the Independent Baltic Federation.
The German Prime Minister has publicly stated that Germany will recognize
the new country as a sovereign state. NATO has decided as a precaution to
reinforce the units in Europe with a large convoy of heavy equipment and
troops. This convoy has departed Halifax, NS and is enroute to Brest
(since there is no Halifax in the database the convoy is off the Nova
Scotia shore at game start).

The convoy is escorted by a small ASW/AAW escort with no heavy units.

Please leave me any comments at 123 @7 on WWIV.

NATO ORDERS

As the convoy commander your task is to get the majority of the convoy
to Brest. Once you drop anchor in the roadstead your task is finished.

INTEL reports no Soviet surface units in the Atlantic nor are there
any major sub concentrations along your projected path. There is no usual
air activity.

SOVIET ORDERS

You are ordered to sink as much of the NATO convoy as possible without
using a large overt force.

You have one Kilo and one Tango subs available, the Tango being off of
Halifax watching for the convoy.

Use your Bear-D cautiously, it is your only recon asset. The Bear-G
and Backfires are your primary attack units and can not be replaced as the
Politburo does not want to escalate the potential conflict above that of a
"renegade" local commander. Nuclear weapons are NOT authorized under any
circumstances.
